Sewing
I come from multiple generations of seamstresses, quilters, and makers. Here are examples of my many fiber projects…
Quilting
I started quilting when I was eight years old with my great grandmother. She had been quilting decades before I was born and I learned allot from her. My mother later opened a quilt shop and I learned to make quilt patterns for her business. Now I explore my own creative interests and some chaos quilting in my spare time.
Plushies
It all begins with an idea. I wanted to raise awareness for my non-verbal daughters so I began making Critters. They are these cute fluffy guys of all kinds of varieties and colors. Large shiny eyes and no mouths symbolically show the wide eyes wonder of these kids and how absolutely awesome they can be with no words. I later moved onto bigger plush projects and made a series of fantasy plushies ranging from Bigfoot to Dragons to Unicorns. I really enjoy these three dimensional projects and having something that will light up a kids face someday.
costumes
I have always been into theater and costume design. When I was a small child my mother and grandmother worked for a sewing business making kilts and corsets for the renaissance fair. I always loved Halloween growing up, acted in local plays, and had been making little outfits for my Barbies since I was age five. This has transformed into me making costumes for myself and now my children. I also do my own wigs styling, makeup, and nails.
